SynapseCommand Demonstrated at NATO "FIGHT TONIGHT!" at SHAPE
SynapseCommand was demonstrated during NATO's "FIGHT TONIGHT!" event at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Belgium, bringing the platform directly in front of NATO operational and technical stakeholders working on the Alliance's digital battlespace.

The demonstration comes as Decent Cybersecurity participates in NATO DIANA's Decision Superiority for NATO Warfighters Challenge, conducted in close collaboration with Allied Command Operations (ACO). Decent Cybersecurity is one of ten companies selected by NATO DIANA to develop and demonstrate technologies intended to augment NATO's operational planning and execution capabilities.
The NATO Maven Smart System (MSS NATO) provides the foundation for the challenge, with selected innovators working towards integration and demonstration against mission-relevant use cases.
At SHAPE
"FIGHT TONIGHT!" brought together NATO leadership, operational staff, technology companies and participants from NATO's innovation ecosystem around the continued development and operational use of NATO's digital battlespace.
The programme covered the NATO Maven Smart System, data integration, artificial intelligence, operational use cases and technologies being developed through NATO DIANA.
For SynapseCommand, the purpose was straightforward: put the system in front of people dealing with real operational requirements and demonstrate how it can support the military decision cycle.

What we demonstrated
SynapseCommand is being developed as a sovereign multi-agent decision-intelligence platform for military command and control. The demonstration at SHAPE focused on the platform's ability to support a complete operational decision cycle:
CONNECT. Bring operational information from different systems and data sources into a common decision environment. SynapseCommand is designed to work alongside existing command-and-control infrastructure rather than create another isolated information system.
UNDERSTAND. Use specialist AI agents in parallel to analyse the operational picture, identify constraints, expose risks and surface information relevant to the commander and staff. Different agents can focus on specific operational functions while contributing to a shared decision process.

REHEARSE. Develop and examine possible scenarios before commitment. SynapseCommand can support scenario development, modelling, simulation and the exploration of alternative courses of action as conditions change.
DECIDE. Compare courses of action while preserving human command authority. AI can generate analysis, identify issues and propose options. Material decisions remain subject to approval by the commander or authorised operator.
EXECUTE. Carry approved decisions forward into the operational workflow and maintain the relationship between the decision, its supporting information and subsequent actions. The objective is not to replace existing command systems but to add a decision-intelligence layer around them.
REPLAY. Reconstruct the decision process after the event. SynapseCommand records the information, recommendations, constraints and decisions associated with an operational sequence, allowing users to examine what was known, what the system recommended and how a decision developed.

Built for the existing digital battlespace
Interoperability was a central part of the discussions at SHAPE, alongside the natural-language command interface commanders use to question the system directly. Military data does not originate from a single system. It can come from sensors, intelligence sources, national systems, command applications, operational networks and platforms using different data formats.
SynapseCommand is therefore being designed to integrate with that environment rather than require it to be replaced. Its open integration layer supports operational and defence data formats including ASTERIX, STANAG 4676, STANAG 4607, ADS-B, AIS and TAK. The platform also provides REST and gRPC interfaces and supports adapters for command-and-control and common operating picture systems, aligned with the defence data standards already in use across the Alliance.

The objective is to allow SynapseCommand to sit alongside existing digital infrastructure and provide additional support for analysis, planning, rehearsal, decision-making and review.
NATO DIANA, ACO and Task Force Maven
Decent Cybersecurity was selected by NATO DIANA in July 2026 for the Decision Superiority for NATO Warfighters Challenge, delivered in close collaboration with Allied Command Operations.
The challenge focuses on mature AI, machine-learning and software capabilities that can improve operational planning and execution through areas including modelling and simulation, operational wargaming and decision support.
MSS NATO serves as a foundation for the programme. Selected companies are working with NATO stakeholders, including Task Force Maven at Allied Command Operations, towards integration and demonstration of their technologies in a cloud environment aligned with operational use cases. For SynapseCommand, this makes interoperability particularly important. The objective is not to build a standalone AI demonstration, but a capability able to operate within a broader digital command environment.
Human authority remains part of the architecture
Using AI in military command requires more than generating a technically plausible recommendation. Users need to understand what information contributed to an assessment, what assumptions were made, which constraints applied and where responsibility for a decision remained.
SynapseCommand is built around human-controlled decision authority. Specialist agents can analyse information, detect risks, test assumptions and generate possible courses of action. They do not remove the authorised human decision-maker from the process.
The platform's replay capability is designed to preserve the evidence associated with that process, creating an inspectable record of how a decision developed. That combination of machine-supported analysis and accountable human authority is central to the way SynapseCommand is being developed.
From demonstration to integration
The SHAPE demonstration provided an opportunity to test SynapseCommand's assumptions against operational and technical feedback rather than presenting the platform only in a conventional exhibition environment. The next priority is continued integration, iteration and demonstration against increasingly realistic operational requirements.

SynapseCommand is being developed around a simple principle: AI should help commanders understand more, rehearse faster and make better-informed decisions without obscuring how those decisions were reached or taking authority away from the people responsible for them.
