Land C2 and Battle Management Integration
Land command is a chain of decisions taken at different echelons, on different timescales, over bearers that fail regularly. SynapseCommand is designed to add decision support across that chain while leaving the battle management system that formations already trust exactly where it is.
What land C2 looks like in practice
A land formation runs a layered command structure. A divisional or brigade headquarters plans on a cycle measured in hours or days, a battlegroup headquarters reacts in tens of minutes, and a vehicle or dismounted commander acts in seconds. The same battle management product family often spans all three, but the clients behave very differently: a headquarters application with a full staff around it, a vehicle client on a rugged display, and an edge client on a handheld device.
Bandwidth shapes everything below the headquarters. Combat net radio and tactical bearers drop, degrade and recover. Land battle management systems are therefore built to hold state locally and reconcile later, which means the picture at a command post and the picture in a vehicle are routinely different, and both are legitimately correct for the moment they describe.
The tempo of land operations also makes the planning artefact perishable. Boundaries move, tasks are reassigned, sustainment lines change, and a plan that was sound at the orders group is under revision within the hour. The pressure on staff is not producing a plan, it is understanding fast enough whether the plan still holds.
Sustainment is the other constant. Ammunition, fuel, casualty evacuation and route status govern what a formation can actually do, and they are held in different systems from the tactical picture. Reconciling manoeuvre intent against sustainment reality is one of the most repetitive analytical burdens in a land headquarters.
Where the decision layer fits
SynapseCommand reads the land picture through the integration layer and applies specialist agents to the analysis that follows it: option development against stated constraints, adversary reasoning as a distinct contribution, sustainment feasibility and the comparison between them.
Because the decision layer holds source, timing and confidence with every entity, it can be explicit about disagreement rather than averaging it away. Where a vehicle client and a headquarters hold different states for the same entity, that is surfaced as a known divergence with timestamps rather than silently resolved.
Deployment follows the same logic as the systems it sits beside. SynapseCommand is designed to run disconnected, inside a sovereign environment, with no external model calls, so the analysis available at a command post does not depend on reachback that a land formation cannot guarantee.
Authority does not move. Options, risks and comparisons are produced for the commander, and the record of what was recommended and what was decided is written append-only so that the sequence can be reconstructed after the fact.

Manoeuvre intent is tested against holdings, routes and lift so that a plan is assessed for whether it can be supported, not only for whether it is tactically attractive.
Edge tolerance
Tactical clients exchange situational awareness over Cursor-on-Target and TAK-family interfaces, which the integration layer already supports, so the decision layer degrades with the bearer rather than failing with it.
Analysis is produced for a human decision gate, never in place of one.
